So during the winter months it’s even more important to look after your hair.
Here are a few tips on looking after your locks in the cold weather.
When washing your hair opt for gentle formulation and natural shampoos & conditioners. Blot the hair dry when finished washing and never rub vigorously.
Always comb through with a wide toothed comb when wet.
A hydrating mask once a week is recommended, as well as using conditioner, especially if you have long or chemically treated hair. It will help lock in moisture that’s often stripped away in the colder weather.
Avoid pony tails as this will help minimise hair breakage that some (especially bobbles plastic ones) create. If you have to tie your hair back then try wearing your pony tail at different heights each day and using plastic free bobbles like KooShoo hair ties.
Try to cut down on heating appliances. We know this is so hard! If you can turn down the temperature setting on your appliances do so. Always, always, always, use a heat protector. You can make your own by simply applying 2 to 6 drops of grapeseed oil evenly through the hair and style as normal.
Essential maintenance is to have a trim every 6 to 8 weeks. There’s no other permanent way of getting rid of those split ends.
